Lessons, Enrolments & Payments
What types of lessons do you offer?
At MWNS, we teach Maths & English from Kindergarten to Year 12 in the following formats:
- Private: One tutor works with one student for the hour.
- Micro Group: One tutor works with a maximum of three students.
In both lesson structures, students are taught individually and in alignment with their schoolwork and learning goals.
How much are tutoring lessons?
- Primary (K–6): $64/hr Micro | $98/hr Private
- Secondary (Y7–10): $68/hr Micro | $102/hr Private
- Senior (Y11–12): $72/hr Micro | $106/hr Private
What enrolment options are available?
We offer three flexible enrolment options to suit different needs: Fortnightly, Termly, or Single lessons.
Fortnightly
- The most popular choice for regular weekly lessons at the same day and time with the same teacher.
- Payments are set up via Direct Debit (EziDebit) from your card or bank account, with no extra fees unless a payment fails.
- Pause anytime with just 2 weeks’ notice; students can still attend lessons during this period.
- Lessons automatically roll over each term – no need to re-enrol.
Termly
- Ideal for students wanting consistent weekly lessons with the same teacher.
- Payment is made for the entire term upfront via Bank Transfer or over the phone with our admin team.
- Cannot be paused mid-term.
- Re-enrol each term within the enrolment window.
Single Lessons
- Perfect for a trial lesson, extra exam prep, or students with irregular schedules.
- Can be booked up to 6 days in advance.
- Payment is made at the time of enrolment.
Can I pause my child’s enrolment?
Yes, you can! If you’re on a fortnightly enrolment, you’re welcome to pause at any time with 14 days’ notice (not including the day of notice).
For term enrolments, we aren’t able to offer pauses, and the full term will need to be completed.
If you’d like to pause your enrolment, simply email us at admin@mwns.com.au (we do need written notice to action any changes). When you’re ready to recommence tuition, just get in touch and we’ll be happy to check availability for you.
Can I defer lessons?
Yes, you can! Just log into the Parent Portal and:
- Go to Lessons and click the calendar icon.
- Choose whether to Reschedule Now (within 6 days) or Reschedule Later (anytime during the year while your child is enrolled).
Please note: same-day cancellations or missed lessons can’t be deferred. If you have any trouble or can’t find a suitable time, contact us on 02 9697 9999 or admin@mwns.com.au.

About Our Founder & Tutors
Who started MWNS?
MWNS was founded by Sia Goutzas, who continues to lead as Principal today.
With experience across both public and private schools and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Sydney, Sia was inspired to create a more personalised approach to learning – one that supports each child’s unique pace and potential.
Why did Principal Sia start MWNS?
Principal Sia founded MWNS in 2003 from her family living room, starting with just one table, a few students, and a simple dream – to help children feel more confident in their learning.
Today, that dream has grown into 7 thriving centres across NSW. Still proudly family-run, with Sia and her family at the heart, MWNS now supports thousands of students each year through the dedication of our Centre Managers and nearly 100 experienced tutors.
What began as a small passion project continues to inspire a love of learning and confidence in every child we teach.
What training/experience do MWNS tutors have?
Our tutors bring strong experience to the classroom – many already have extensive tutoring backgrounds, and some also hold teaching qualifications. Before joining MWNS, every tutor goes through a multi-step interview process to ensure their teaching style and personality align with our supportive approach.
All tutors complete a thorough onboarding program, where they are trained in the MWNS personalised learning method as well as child safeguarding principles. Once teaching, they are observed and evaluated at least twice each term to ensure the highest standards are maintained. In addition, tutors receive regular mentoring and ongoing guidance to support their professional growth and help them best assist each individual student.
Do all your tutors have a Working with Children Check?
Yes, absolutely. Every tutor at MWNS holds a verified, up-to-date Working With Children Check before they begin teaching with us.
What happens if a tutor is away?
If your child’s tutor is away, we’ll do our best to provide a replacement who is completely prepared for the lesson. If that’s not possible, we’ll let you know and offer the option to attend online or reschedule the lesson.
If your child’s regular tutor is unable to continue working with us, we will find the best replacement and let you know who will be taking over your child’s lessons. Rest assured, every lesson is carefully documented, so your child’s new tutor will be well-informed and ready to step in smoothly.
Can I contact my child’s tutor?
Absolutely! You are more than welcome to speak with your child’s tutor before or after their lesson, if you are able to come into the centre. Alternatively, you are more than welcome to call or send an email to your Centre Manager and they will be sure to pass on your message to your child’s tutor.
Our Maths & English Assessments
What assessments does MWNS offer?
We offer free Maths and English assessments for students from Year 1 through to Year 10. These give us a clear picture of your child’s strengths and areas for growth, helping us personalise their learning journey.
How does my child complete an assessment?
You can choose what works best for your family:
- At home: download the assessment and answers from our website under [ Free Assessments ].
- In-centre: book a time through our website under [ Book an Assessment ].
You are more than welcome to call us to discuss.
How long does the assessment take?
Each assessment takes about 45-60 minutes per subject. If your child is completing their assessment in-centre, you’re welcome to relax in our reception area or step out and return at pick-up time.
How much content is covered?
The assessments cover a broad range of the NSW Curriculum for your child’s year level. This gives a clear picture of how well they understand key topics and concepts, helping us identify both strengths and areas where extra support may be needed.
What will the assessment tell me?
The assessment gives you a clear picture of how your child is tracking for their year level. You’ll see their strengths, any areas that may need extra support, and suggested focus points. If you choose to begin tuition with MWNS, this forms the foundation of your child’s personalised learning plan.
Do I receive a report?
Yes – if your child completes their assessment in-centre. Our Curriculum Coordinator carefully reviews and marks the assessment by topic, then emails you a detailed report within a week. The report gives a clear summary of how your child performed in each section.
What if my child doesn’t need tutoring?
That’s absolutely fine! The assessment is simply a way to give you peace of mind about how your child is tracking. There’s no obligation to enrol – it’s just helpful information for you to decide on next steps.
What happens if we enrol after the assessment?
If you decide to continue with MWNS, we will:
- Place your child in either Private or Micro Group lessons (with a maximum of 3 students)
- Share their assessment and report with their tutor, so they have a clear understanding of your child’s strengths and areas for growth
- Begin creating a personalised learning journey for your child, with progress you can easily follow in the Parent Portal
